The Shrine Knights won on Saturday, beating St. Hugo. The Knights had stellar play from all of the team members. Cassidy Skaggs 8pts. 4 steals, 3 assist, Tara Ellison 3 steals, Grace Bontrager 2 steals and good shots at the basket, Regan Castle 6pts. 4 rbs 2 steals, Maureen Luddy 4pts 5 rbs 2 blks, Kate Howard 2pts, played the point guard position with a lot of confidence, Rachel Bain 2pts, 2 steals and sound defense, Megan Lee 4 rbs good passes to teammates, Nicole Miller 4 rbs, 1 blk, 1 steal.
The team ended the season with a victory over St. Hugo to go undefeated in league play. The girls are the champion's of their division.
This season the girls took 3rd place at the Shrine Thanksgiving Tournament and 2nd place with a combine team at the St. Genevieve Christmas Tournament.
Congratulations girls on playing as a team and having fun throughout the season.

The team has extended their winning streak to 9 games. Solid defense, rebounding and sharing the ball, were the keys to the victory.

The Shrine girls played another great defensive game on Saturday. Tara Ellsion, Grace Bontager and Rachel Bain had 10 steals between them.
Maureen Luddy lead the team with 8 pts. Nicole Miller, Regan Castle each had 6 pts. Kate Howard 4pts. and 5 assists, Megan Lee 2 pts. The team played very well in our half court offense, passing the ball to the player with the best shot.

Overall Record: 11 wins 2 loses
The girls played a scrappy St. Thecla team on Saturday and came away with their 7th league victory.
The team played great team defense under difficult circumstances. Cassidy Skaggs 12 pts, Maureen Luddy 10 pts, Regan Castle 8 pts, Rachel Bain 2 pts. Tara Ellison, Grace Bontrager and Rachel Bain played fantastic defense, to create turnovers for easy baskets for their team.

Shrine Catholic 22, Mt. Clemens St. Mary 12
The girls played a very much improved, St.Mary team. Team defense and rebounds kept St. Mary from getting second chance shots. Regan Castle, Nicole Miller and Megan Lee did a good job in rebounding 13 total between them. Tara Ellison, Grace Bontrager and Rachel Bain had, 5 steals. Megan Lee, Kate Howard, Regan Castle, Rachel Bain scored for the Knights. Cassidy Skaggs lead the team with 12 pts, 3 steals, 4 assists.

The Shrine girls played great team defense, which turned to great offensive opportunities.
01/08/2011 Update:
Shine Catholic 32, St. Margaret 11
Record: Div. 5 wins 0 loses, Overall 9 wins 2 loses
Our 6th grade girls won their 5th division game vs. St. Margaret on Saturday. Strong defense and unselfish play were the key's to their win.
Maureen Luddy and Cassidy Skaggs had 10 points each. Megan Lee, Nicole Miller, Kate Howard, Regan Castle also scored for the Knights. Grace Bontrager and Tara Ellison made good passes to open teammates and played very good defense.
12/30/2010 Update (St. Genevieve Christmas Tournament):A combined squad of the 6th grade girls teams took 2nd place honors at the St. Genevieve Christmas Tournament.
Game #1: Shrine 23, St. Fabian 17
The girls played very good, team offense and defense.
Molly Lyons 9pts, Cassidy Skaggs 8pts, Megan Lee 3pts, Nicole Miller 3pts
Maureen Luddy 6 rebs 2 assists
Ellie Cook, Emma McNorton, Grace Bontrager, Tara Ellison also played a key role in the team's victory.
Game # 2: Shrine 20, Our Lady of Victory 11
Balanced scoring and stellar defense propelled the team to victory.
Molly Lyons 8pts 3 assists 3 rebs, Cassidy Skaggs 7pts 2 assists 3 steals, Megan Lee 3pts 4 rebs, Ellie Cook 2pts
Nicole Miller 6 rebs 1 blocked shot and great defense.
Emma McNorton, Kirsten Atkins contributed with sound offense and defense.
Game #3 Championship: St. Edith 20, Shrine 14
The girls played a very good St. Edith team, with a lot of depth. Our team left everything on the basketball court. The coaching staff is very proud of the way the girls displayed their basketball talents and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
We had 5 girls that scored in the championship game: Molly Lyons 6pts, Megan Lee 3pts, Ellie Cook 2pts, Nicole Miller 2pts, Cassidy Skaggs 1pt
Emma McNorton and Celia McFarland were outstanding in their defensive pressure.
Molly Lyons was 1 of 5 girls voted to the All-Tourament team, congratulations Molly.

Shrine Catholic showcased their great sportsmanship against St. Clements. The girls are an example of what CYO athletics are all about.

The team played very good defense, which turned into great offensive chances. They had 11 team assists and balanced scoring.
